Today is the last day of phase 3 (may still be a just a couple more of those) of koufax lp3 recording. Michael Krassner is pulling thru with some amazing last minute polish to make things sound pretty ace. This recording has been the most collaborative, time-spaced one we've ever done...this is a good thing. It is pretty amazing to have something reach (albeit near) completion that has been a scrapbook of ideas for the last year or so now. Michael is mixing a song now called "A Sad Man's Face", which basically is a four on the floor toe tap w/ finger snaps on the two and four...all in the key of misery - if that makes any sense...ha. Tonight Bob Dylan is on 60 minutes, so we'll have to take a sanity break and watch that. I will post a new mp3 of another song this week. Also, since we do in fact have 2 new t-shirt designs, as well as a new pin badge set, I'm hoping to have the online seller update these for the holiday season for those people whom have asked about the new shirt from tour. Don't forget to check out the David Sedaris book in this month's book club pick.

Trying to round up the lads after another party night in the city...el vino did flow. That reminds me that the new office video comes out today, so we'll have to grab that for some laughs on the ride home. Last night's gig went rather smooth, which is always a feat for manhattan island. If we get out of the city with no parking tickets or break in, I'll be able to start sleeping soundly again after I visit free porn post. I'm still paranoid from our chicago equipment theft experience from two years ago that i think i dreamt about our parking spot last night, and who wants to dream about that?! Nonetheless, we only have another hour or two, and things are looking up to leave w/o any of the aforementioned big city headaches.

Just arrived in the city after driving 10 hours today from dayton, ohio in the morning, and stopping in akron to play an early gig. Even in this state of sleepiness / delirium, we're watching curb your enthusiasm season 4, and it is brilliant. We've got a day off tomorrow (or is it today), so it looks as though some party will be made. The creeps come out at night, as witnessed by Robbie at a truckstop tonight...watch out for pill offering / d peaking bathroom dwellers in Pennsylvania. Looks as though it is finally time to catch some sleep...

Waiting on a delayed flight (TED airlines seems to like showing up late), here in Phoenix. The weather is so ace, I'm enjoying the time staring at the window, keeping in mind this is the last look at a desert I'll have for a while. I've been living in downtown phoenix for just over a week now with producer Michael Krassner working on songwriting and arranging. Anyone making it to this town needs to eat the Bario...the most ace mexican food i've quite possibly ever eaten. We got to see the pixies (whom by the way were ace) a few days back thanks to an old friend who works for the band these days...thank you thomas husman! It seems as though we'll have another 6 songs to add on to the 8 we've already tracked in Kansas two months ago. Some new titles are "a sad man's face", "get us sober", "5 years of madness", "silence is gold", and "a memorable laugh." We're due back at Black Lodge Studio at the end of November for a week or so to finish as much up as possible. We'll be doing a few days of practicing (a koufax first...ha) in Kansas in a week for this upcoming short trip of ours. Please come out and make party if you'll be in any of the cities. Gotta bounce, as it sounds as if the plane has arrived.

Phase 1 of Koufax LP3 recording was wrapped up yesterday, after we dropped good friend and record producer / engineer Michael Krassner off at the Kansas City Airport in the afternoon. We were able to get one last visit in to Gate's, which is a KC staple for good eating. We ran into a bunch of old friends on this trip, and the midwest was a nice change of pace, seeing as how we've recorded the last two records in Los Angeles. Still might be an option for finishing things though. After cancelling our plans to start recording in Los Angeles, we were able to pull things together and have some old friends of ours to play on the record. Things have turned out quite well so far, and I am hoping to post an mp3 of "Why Bother at All" by the end of the week. Also, there are a few studio pictures I am trying to track down to post up as well, since we've been rather crap on the site updating. Again, koufax thanks everyone whose emailed expressing interest in the new record. I wish I had more concrete information like a release date to post, but things are still up in the air at the moment. We will be home for a little while to write a few more songs, and there is a possibility for some new york and southern california shows in mid november and early december, respectively. Check out this month's book club selection, and REMEMBER TO VOTE this fall. Otherwise, we'll keep it light.
